Kaylee’s Grammy just won a Grammy!!!

The Live Wire: Woody Guthrie in Performance 1949
Best Historical Album
This was my mom’s first Grammy win – of her own. What made this win so special to me was the fact that The Live Wire was a rare recording of a concert of both of my grandparents, Woody & Marjorie. And to top it all of, at the time of the concert my grandmother was 9 months pregnant with my mother. Congratulations mom! You truly deserve this award and recognition.
Kaylee is 6 months old! I’m amazed at how fast little Kaylee is growing up. Everyday is new and exciting, and always filled with smiles.
I’ve posted some new pictures of her, so make sure to check them out:

Recently she pulled herself up in the crib so that she was standing and holding onto the rail. I’m so proud of her!

Kaylee’s Grammy has been nominated for a Grammy!
The Live Wire, Woody Guthrie in Performance 1949
Best Historical Recording
The album is call The Live Wire and it is a recording of my grandfather (Woody Guthrie) and grandmother (Marjorie Guthrie) in a 1949 concert. The performance was recorded at a YMCA in New Jersey on a wire-recorder and is the only recorded performance of Woody in known existence. The wires were donated to The Woody Guthrie Archives in 2002 and we’ve spent the past couple of years restoring the audio. There’s one machine in the US that does this special transfer and restoration and we got our hands on it!

*An interesting side note – my grandmother was 8 months pregnant with my mother at the time of the concert.

Wish us good luck! And tune in to watch the Grammy’s on Sunday, February 10th at 8:00p.

Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season! We certainly had an amazing holiday, Kaylee’s very first. We had two very full days of Christmas with lots of wonderful family. Kaylee got some great presents from Santa and loved unwrapping them all.
We had a great time on New Year’s Eve too. We went to our friends, Alan & Cindy’s, apartment in New York City. It was a really nice party, not too many people, and Kaylee was amazing through the whole thing. She slept most of the party, making an appearance to celebrate ringing in the new year.

This weekend we went to Philadelphia. 2 trains and 2 subways later, Kaylee was a pro at traveling. What a fun trip we had!

The Woody Guthrie Archives and the Guthrie Family were honored at the Philadelphia Folksong Society’s 50 Anniversary. So we went down to attend and participate in the event. Sarah Lee, Johnny, Olivia, & Sophie were all there too!

(This is Olivia Nora holding Kaylee!)
We stayed in a great hotel, got to reunite with an old high school friend, and had a really fun time together!

Can’t wait until our next trip – next week when we go to Rhode Island for my cousin’s wedding!
